The Open RAN Validation Engineer will perform the role of Test and Validation for the RAN network in the following areas:
· Analysis, definition and execution of the Radio and RAN test plans to meet the customer requirements, ensuring the solution implementation will meet the quality, robustness and scalability demanded by top tier telecoms networks
· Identification, analysis and mitigation of issues reported from internal and customer lab tests
· Log analysis and issue investigation including communication of issues to ecosystem partners and follow up investigations where required
· Tracking and reporting of progress to key stakeholders
Experience
· Experience of 4G and 5G Radio and RAN testing
· Experience of Open RAN architectures
· Experience of working with air interface and network protocols and infrastructures
· Telecoms system engineering background
Education
Educated to degree level or equivalent preferred Electronics/ Telecommunications or similar
Professional Skills and knowledge (Technical expertise)
Essential:
· Solid working knowledge of 4G Radio Access Network technology
· Working knowledge of radio conformance testing techniques
· Field and network issue analysis skills
· Familiarity with RAN test and measurement tools
· Ability to understand complex systems and requirements
· Clear communicator (written and verbally)
· Ability to effectively explain complex technical details to others
Desirable:
· Familiarity with 5G Radio Access Network technology
· Familiarity with the 3GPP architectures
· Familiarity with Open vRAN Fronthaul profiles
· Working knowledge of legacy (2G/3G) Radio technology
